Certification Program 2012

You are invited to attend any Regional/National Conference offered by APA prior to becoming a member. Course hours accumulated will be kept on file for one year from date taken. Within that year, if you become a member, those hours will count toward certification.
Why  Is Certification Important?

  • Continued education and personal growth increase your value as a lay professional to your staff, congregation, and to yourself
  • Your understanding of Presbyterian history, theology, and polity is essential to your profession
  • APA certified members are listed in the Directory of the General Assembly Minutes of the PC(USA)
  • Your presbytery affirms the skill and dedication of certified lay employees by providing recognition by the presbytery upon certification, and invites these employees to presbytery meetings.
Who are the Instructors?
  • Ministers of the Word and Sacrament
  • Seminary graduates
  • Business professionals
  • APA members with Level 3 certification
Outside APA Conference/Seminar Credit
APA will allow up to 10 hours of outside course study to be applied toward each level of certification. The course must be applicable to your current or future job responsibilities and must be approved by the Regional and National Certification Chair prior to registration of the course/seminar. Provide Debbie Burleigh, Regional Certification Chair with a copy of the course/seminar brochure and a copy of the certificate of completion.
