The Administrative
Personnel Association has so much to offer church employees throughout the
denominations of this country. Our classes range from the spiritual to the
technical and have something to offer each of you. No other organization is as
well equipped to nurture your mind and soul as APA is.
Though we are in a
covenant with the Presbyterian Church (USA), being a member of the Presbyterian
Church is not a requirement. The Presbyterian Church (USA) may be different,
but we are not so different that we cannot provide spiritual and intellectual
growth opportunities to those outside our denomination. That is what the
Administrative Personnel Association is, the glue that holds the church or governing
bodies together by the strength we give our members, regardless of how we
worship or what religious affiliation we hold.
I issue a personal
invitation to you to join the Administrative Personnel Association and
benefiting from our networking, our courses, and our friendship. When you’re
ready, we’re here for you.

As a former pastor,
Interim Executive Presbyter, and Synod Executive/Stated Clerk, I have seen the
value of having the staff become a part of the Administrative Personnel
Association (APA) organization. The training classes are where information and
skills about administration, polity and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
governance are taught and learned. For the church, presbytery, and Synod staff
I feel the church as a whole deeply benefits from the training and sharing that
obviously abounds at these conferences. The levels of achievement in APA are
important as administrative staff take courses and net-work across our Synod
and entire denomination. My sincere thanks to APA for providing this excellent
training for our church professionals. Please seriously consider becoming part
of APA if you are not already.

“In our presbytery,
we placed a high value on continuing education, encouraging our administrative
staff to make the most of opportunities to learn and grow in their work. I
don’t think there’s a better place for that growth than the APA. Our staff have
not only had their knowledge base broadened about the life of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), but they’ve also
developed friendships with other administrative staff in other parts of the
church, bringing new ideas and insights into our operation. As a result, the
presbytery is a better place to work and to serve Jesus
Christ. Thank you, APA, for what you bring to us!”

"In 1999, our Christian Education Chair, Joe DelVecchio, came back from a presbytery meeting and said to me, 'You have just got to start going to APA - it is an educational arm of our denomination! We just heard all about it and it would help you understand the denomination better, give you networking friends, and help you with continuing education!'
"I joined in 2000, and have been a member since. In 2009, I reached the culmination of much study, and I earned my certificate of completion of Level 1 and Level 2 courses - many, many hours of classes at conventions in Florida, study at home online, classes set up by churches to which I traveled and attended, and a class in which our Facility Manager and I set up at our church here last year.
"At the December 2009 presbytery meeting in Deland, FL, five APA members (myself included) were presented on the floor of presbytery and honored for our achievements of study. What a proud moment that was for me! I have worked at this church for 25 years, and many of our session members were at the meeting. Our pastors presented me with flowers and it was the event of the year for me.
"I would recommend this group to anyone who works for a Presbyterian church. The contacts, friendships, love and support, prayers and knowledge that you obtain through membership is invaluable.
"My church has always been supportive of the goals of the group and the benefits derived from membership."
